ABOUT ABOUT

Learn the ages old art of sword cutting with a live edge katana in this Tameshigiri workshop.
Each participant will be taken through safe practices, proper form and sword technique. Under full supervision, Students will have the opportunity to practice cutting with practice swords before moving to sharpened katana and prepared cutting targets.
No previous martial art or weapons experience is required and all skill levels are welcome.

What is Tameshigiri?

Literally translated, it means "test cut" and it was traditionally the common practice for testing Japanese swords.  This session will focus on the activity in order to develop focused, present, mind and body awareness. It’s a serious practice but it’s also exhilarating and fun.

What should I wear?

Our only restriction on clothing is that close-toed shoes are required; otherwise you’re welcome to wear whatever you’d like.  We recommend avoiding high heels, and wear something comfortable and loose enough to allow for a full range of movement.
